JD Lewis
JD Lewis is a musician and music producer based in Melbourne, Australia. JD grew up in Melbourne, always singing and exploring the musical landscape of life in Australia, as well as that of his family’s Jewish cultural tradition. He sang in choirs, learnt piano and guitar from an early age and later turned his attention to bass guitar. As a teenager JD played in school bands, at local bars, and around campfires with friends. In his adult years, JD turned his attention to become a doctor. Whilst his music lay dormant, his passion for music burned deep.Â
Â
After some years working as a doctor, that passion finally called JD to action. From 2014 he started writing and performing music in Melbourne, chronicling the journey of a man pondering his identity and searching for meaning in life. With two old friends, he formed the band "Dooky", named after his childhood nickname and played in bars around Melbourne, as well as at Iceland's Melodica Festival. In 2018 he took a leap of faith, left the big smoke of Melbourne and moved up to Byron Bay to study music production. As he immersed himself in the lush environs of Byron Bay, he honed his songwriting, recording and production skills, and met a team of artists and fellow producers who helped him create studio recordings of his songs.
Â
2024 is set to be a big year for JD. He is now back in Melbourne ready to show the world these songs he has so lovingly crafted over the years and to showcase the soulful voice of a man with a clear vision and purpose, to enrich and awaken the hearts of listeners through music.
